*We sold Brandon's car!! We re-posted it on Craigslist on a whim and some poor sucker actually bought it!! She wasn't the smartest girl around though. She asked us to remove the license plates and said she would be fine because she only had to drive a few miles and would go straight to the DMV the next day. Brandon and I both tried to talk her out of this since it is highly illegal to drive a car without any plates or tabs, but she insisted. Whatever, we thought, it's her problem now. We started walking to our married small group but we didn't get very far when Brandon's phone rang. It was the girl who had bought our car and she had been pulled over and wanted us to come back and put the plates back on. We thought about just leaving her since we had the money and a signed contract and didn't have to take responsibility for her or the car anymore. But we're too nice, so we walked back and put the plates back on the car. She's supposed to return them to us today. We felt kind of guilty selling our car to this girl who obviously didn't have much common sense, but not guilty enough to not jump at the chance to get that hunk of junk off of our hands. She was from Texas... enough said.
*We have done a little car shopping but it's difficult b/c we have to borrow friends' cars to do it. We found one we think we like, we'll probably go back Monday night and buy it if we don't find anything better.
*Brandon went to a bachelor party last night and received quite a shock. He was really glad to celebrate with his friends but he ended up paying a lot more money that he expected. One of the guys had apparently reserved a private room that had a minimum charge of $1000. Brandon, being the good husband that he is and knowing that we're on a tight budget, ordered the cheapest thing on the menu (it was still $30). He didn't have a drink or dessert because he was trying to spend as little as possible. However , the guy who had reserved the room didn't tell anybody about the minimum charge until the bill arrived and the 8 of them had to split a $1000 bill. If he had said something , Brandon could have at least ordered $100 worth of food and enjoyed himself rather than paying $100 for a $30 steak. When he told me about it, I was really upset that somebody had reserved such an expensive room and forced everybody else to pay for it, especially since we were certainly not expecting to spend nearly that much money and really can't afford to spend that much either. I just have to take deep breaths every time I think about it because I hate hate hate wasting money.
*On the other hand, I had a fabulous time last night and didn't spend a penny. Three of my co-workers hosted a progressive dinner party. At the first house, we had Mexican-themed appetizers and margaritas. At the second house, we were served a fantastic Brazilian dinner. My co-worker had cooked chicken, roasted elk, sausages, potato salad and rolls. He had homemade the entire meal (for 25 people) from Brazilian recipes and served two different kinds of jungle juice. It was sooo good, I wish I could entertain that well. At the last house, we had dessert and wine. I had such a good time, but I laughed way too much and irritated my throat. Everybody kept asking where Brandon was and I kept hoping he'd show up for the next course, but little did I know, he was spending a fortune just across town. The moral of the story is, Brandon shouldn't ditch his wife for the evening because only bad can come of it.
*And lastly, our cats have recovered from the trauma of seeing a dog for the first time in their lives and are now back to their old, lazy selves.
