My feet and ankles suddenly and SEVERELY swelled up yesterday. It seriously looks like I have a broken ankle. I thought it would go away after a good night's sleep with my feet elevated, but no such luck. They're just as bad - if not worse - today. I freaked out and called my doctor's office but they told me this is 'normal' and to just drink more water and keep my feet up.
I swear, I could call with literally any medical problem under the sun and that's their solution: drink more water. I already drink between 80 and 100 ounces per day and with every new complaint of mine, they're constantly telling me to increase that. My hands and face look slightly more swollen but my feet and ankles are just unbelievably huge. They're not just cankles, they're more like a 2nd set of knees. I'm not exaggerating at all (as hard as that might be to believe), they literally might be the size of my knees. It's grossing me out, I can't even look at them.
Apparently, sitting and standing is the worst possible thing for them, but unfortunately I'm still stuck working today and tomorrow. I won't be able to put my feet up until Saturday so I guess I just have to deal with it until then. Even then, the nurse said it could take several days completely off my feet for them to go back to their normal level of swollenness. Sick!!
On to a better subject, my boss and his wife had us over for dinner last night. They are the parents of 4 year old twin girls and gave us lots of advice and answers on raising twins. It was also fun to hang out with their kids for a while, they're adorable!
Tonight is the office Christmas Party at the Senator's house. It should be fun, although very bitter-sweet at the same time. The office is currently filled with movers packing everything up so it's really sinking in that we'll be closing in a week. But I'm still looking forward to tonight, I just wish I could rest for a few hours beforehand. Too much work to do though, I'm so close to finishing, I can't stop now!

I think you should post a pic of you ready to pop!!
Have you looked online with your symptoms? I wouldn't just go with one persons suggestion. This sounds more serious to me. I know that water, elevation, etc. can help, but yours sounds pretty drastic. If you are worried, look into it more. It never hurts to come back at your dr. with questions of what could possibly be happening...remember you are "paying" them and it is your babies!!
Love to you!
I had ridiculously swollen ankles at the end of my last pregnancy...the doc didn't seem too worried about it until I started feeling a little light headed and such and when I went in he said I was developing pre-eclampsia and induced me the next morning! Keep an eye on your symptoms and like Tarena said, contact your doc if you get worried and have them take your blood pressure. You don't want to mess with pregnancy complications. :)
