Field Trip and Zoo Lights

We went on a field trip to a nature center for preschool last Tuesday. It was for our forest-themed lesson. And that place was awesome! I'm definitely keeping it in mind for the rainy/snowy/cold days ahead. I'm always trying to find good (and free) places to take the boys to get them out of the house in the winter. It's probably unhealthy to go to the outlet mall 3 times in one week, right? And not really free either since I inevitably end up buying something. The nature center is a great alternative and I'm so glad I know about it now! There were all sorts of puzzles, games, and exhibits for the kids to look at. There were even live snakes, turtles and mice in cages. They also had little animal costumes for the kids to try on. They were probably crawling in little kid germs but oh well, we were already sick. Plus it was pretty cute.
Jack and Cullen's little preschool class.
Practicing their counting with crackers.
All the kids loved the outdoor area, there were tons of leaves to play in!
Brandon had his first of 5 finals yesterday. Yes, 5... poor guy. Why they held his final on a Saturday, I don't know, but at least he's done with one of them. After he got home, we took the boys to see Zoo Lights at the National Zoo. And of course they loved it! They've been very interested in Christmas lights this year, they always ask me to stop the car so we can look at some of the lights in our neighborhood. At Zoo Lights we not only got to see lots of Christmas lights and a few animals, but there was also a model train display which was definitely the highlight of their night. The boys stood there watching those trains go round and round forever. Brandon and I considered leaving them there, going on a date in Georgetown, and then picking them up when the zoo closed. Jack and Cullen probably wouldn't have even noticed we were gone, but somebody might have eventually noticed that those two boys leaning on the railing for hours were unsupervised and called security.
Can't you just see the excitement on his face?
After we dragged them away from the model trains, we went to see the lights. The boys actually walked the entire zoo without a stroller! They really are growing up! They loved getting up close to the lights and inspecting them and they wanted their picture taken in front of this lion.

I can't believe it's December already! Where did Fall go? Our boys are going to turn 3 years old this month!

I have tried calling you and Brandon so many times. You can have my old blackberry. I am tired of not being able to get a hold of you!

hahaha - they look so thrilled to be in those costumes. Also, Jackson's smile in the second picture is adorable. Think they got their "cage" game from all these animal-observing outings?? haha, who knows.
