So, I'm at 34 weeks and 5 days now. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, the first of my now weekly appointments. The first part was a 'non-stress test' where you just lie in a lazy boy for an hour with three little plastic discs strapped onto your belly. One measures your contractions and the others monitor the babies' heartbeats. It can apparently take a lot longer with twins since the babies have to be awake and moving around for at least part of the time in order to get an accurate reading of their heartbeats. You also have to experience at least one or two contractions during that time so they can see how the babies react to them.
Lucky for me, both babies were awake and kicking and I had several contractions in a half hour so I didn't have to stay long. And boy did they kick! They really did not like those plastic discs pressing on them because they kicked violently against them. Every few minutes, I'd see one go flying up and I'd have to make sure it didn't slide out of place.
After that, I had the regular weekly check-up. My blood pressure is fine and I only gained two pounds in the last two weeks. Yay! She also told me I could rub on Benadryl cream for my skin rash so I made a beeline for the drugstore immediately after my appointment. I feel much less itchy today even though my skin is still covered with red, splotchy bumps :-)
Today has been a little weird, though. I woke up feeling extremely sore and could barely walk at first. The pain and stiffness in my pelvis gradually lessened throughout the day, but it still hurts alot (I've been getting alot of strange looks as I waddle around the Senate at a snail's pace). I also had an abnormally large amount of contractions today, very uncomfortable almost-painful ones too. It got so bad during the afternoon that I started marking down the times because I was afraid I was going into labor. Don't worry, though, they were pretty frequent but still totally irregular. I haven't had one for over an hour now.
However, it completely freaked me out so I got to work cleaning out my desk and throwing away files. I made a big dent in it and will hopefully finish the bulk of it tomorrow. I am also going to go home and pack my suitcase tonight, just in case. No matter how good of a list I made for Brandon, he wouldn't be able to get every specific item I wanted from home because he can't read my mind. If I wrote down my "my favorite socks," he wouldn't know what those were or where to find them. So, I figure I better pack them now and have my bag ready and waiting. Hopefully, I won't need it until December 30th but at the very least I will have some peace of mind if I get such intense contractions again.

Hey Kim!! I am so excited for you to have your little baby boys!! I hope your sisters or someone calls us and lets us know! Can't wait to see you guys when you are up in WA!!
Love,
Mike & Becky :)
hope you are feeling well! Not too much longer! And great job on getting some things packed and ready!
My goodness Kim, you are getting close! Does your church organize meals for new parents? This is huge blessing...if someone asks do this, let them! It's really easy with Evites to do. Looking forward to checking your blog & seeing these babies!!
In between using the benadryl cream for your skin itchies, try putting regular aloe in the refrigerator and use that. I used that all the time at the end of my last pregnancy and it works like a charm. So soothing. :)
Good luck as you get to the end!
(I'm Alicia Yohann's sister, Jessica by the way. :)
