We've been in California all week and I've been recovering from the solo trip out here with twin toddlers. It was another crazy, hectic and stressful trip with the boys. Thankfully, the plane wasn't full and we got an entire row to ourselves but it still wasn't quite enough room for Jack and Cullen. I spent at least 4 hours of the 6 hour flight walking up and down the aisle with one of the boys or in the airplane restroom changing diapers. I'm not sure what it is, but I think I change twice as many diapers while flying than on a normal day at home. Maybe it's because I bribe the boys with cookies and juice in actual bottles when we're flying. Anything to keep them happy during the long flight!
I also tried out those child 'leashes' that I swore I'd never use. Don't judge me! I used to judge parents with leashes and now I'm one of them. Jack and Cullen still ran in opposite directions and they looked at me like I was crazy when I first put them on. But they worked pretty well to get the boys onto and off the plane- I definitely wouldn't use them for everyday trips though.
Anyways, we made it somehow and we've been having a great time since we arrived. We haven't really done much of anything, just hanging out at my Mom's place. We've gone to the park and been swimming in the pool a lot. The boys could stand in the kid's pool and play with their spoons and buckets for hours! Here are some pictures from our time here so far:
Cullen at the park
Jack going down the slide
Sweet little Violet
Uncle Jon pushes them so high, they love it!
Cullen making a funny face
Jack
They were fascinated with this little cement strip. Not sure what to do with it at first, so they crawled over it.
Then they stood on it.
Then they tried walking along it
Playing with Auntie Anna at the pool
They started going down the slide by themselves, so brave!
Awe... every picture is just so cute! I'm glad you are willing to endure the challenge of flying so you and the boys can visit family: You are amazing:-)
Okay, you have me completely confused. In the top picture you say it's Cullen (in grey), then in the second picture you say it's Jackson (in the creme), then in the 5th picture you say it's Cullen (in the creme), then in the 6th picture you say it's Jackson (in the grey). Are you changing their jackets just to confuse me, or... are you confused about which child is which child????
The pictures are actually from two different trips to the park. The first one they're both wearing jeans and Cullen is in the grey jacket, Jack in the tan. The second trip, they're wearing shorts and Cullen's wearing the tan jacket and Jack the grey one. Sorry for the confusion! The tan jacket is Cullen's because it's a bit bigger than the grey one, but my sisters put them on the wrong kid and I was too lazy to switch them before we left :-)

Thank you so much for the pix. Don't feel bad about the leashes--better safe than chasing them through a terminal. They are growing so much
Kim, you make me so nervous for flying with Lil in October! I can't believe you've done this by yourself so many times!!
