Lately

* Hot, Hot, HOT. We've broken record after record over the past couple weeks and the rest of the summer promises to be just as hot. We just ended an 11-day heat wave where temperatures have been over 95 every single day. On a few days, the temperatures have reached up to 104 or 105 and with the heat index (humidity) that means it feels like between 110 and 115. It's been a real test of my self-control not to complain (too loudly) to Brandon about this out of control heat. Last weekend, there was a huge storm with hurricane force winds that knocked out power for over a million people, lots of our friends lost power for a few days. That was a good reminder to be thankful for having power and AC - even if it's sweltering outside, at least we got some relief in our own house.

*Water. Because of the aforementioned heat, I often feel like my life revolves around water. Between making sure I'm drinking enough, the boys are drinking enough, and our daily trips to the pool, I am constantly thinking about water. We often go to the pool twice a day- because three year old boys can only sit in their air-conditioned living room for so long before going stir crazy. Plus all that swimming really wears them out and they go to bed early and sleep in late- there's the silver lining to this heat wave! ;-)

*Pregnancy. Oh yeah, I'm 35 weeks pregnant now! Still feeling great, not many complaints. Although, I've now reached the point where I'm starting to feel really big and experiencing lots of Braxton Hicks contractions. I get winded when I go up the stairs too quickly and if I walk a lot during the daytime, I certainly feel it at night. And I do have a bit of swelling in this heat if I don't put my feet up enough. But I have no massive swelling, no severe back pain, no waddling around, no miserable, sleepless nights this time around. At this point in my twin pregnancy, I was pretty much in a constant state of misery and discomfort. Compared to that, I feel fantastic right now!

*A little bit lonely. Brandon takes the Bar Exam in 2 weeks so he's studying like there's no tomorrow. He says he could study for several more months and still not feel ready. But from my point of view, July 25th can't come soon enough!

*Keeping busy. Thankfully, the boys and I have found plenty of ways to fill our time and not get too bored. Last week, we went to the mall (for the first time in months!), the splash park, 2 birthday parties and a baby shower. Oh, and many trips to the pool of course :-)

So glad to hear you did not lose power. Awful for so many in VA,MD and DC. I'm sure Brandon will do great on his bar exam. Jack and Cullen are changing so much with every post.
