It's been much cooler this week (I now consider any day with a heat index of less than 95 to be "cool") and it's been such a relief. It was hard to even run errands or step out our front door during the heat wave because it was so oppressively hot that it really got to you, even if you were only outside for a few minutes. This week, we've been able to spend some time outside in the evenings again and the boys love it. They have been riding their bikes, helping with chores, and eating ice cream or popsicles for dessert every night. Usually they are shirtless and often shoeless, which has prompted the question from a few of our neighbors, "Do your kids even own shirts??" Apparently, east coast kids don't run around without shirts all summer... Oh well!
As you can see, Cullen takes his job of watering the plants very seriously.
He also swept up the grass clippings for nearly a half hour, he actually did a pretty good job!
This is the life!!
I couldn't leave out a picture from our annual trip to Chick-fil-A for Cow Appreciation Day. Our favorite fast food holiday of the year! I swear, food just tastes better when it's free!!
And of course, we've been swimming nearly every day. We took some friends with us yesterday and stayed all afternoon. The boys are getting so much braver the more often we go. At the beginning of the summer, neither would dare put his face in the water or anything that might risk getting water in his eyes. We tried goggles, but that didn't work either. Now though, after going so often, they will float/swim on a pool noodle in the deep end, jump in the shallow end, and Cullen even dunks his face in the water. We may just have them swimming before the summer's over!

Hooray! I'm so proud of them for getting braver with the pool! I hope I get one more chance to go with you guys. :-D
This blog just makes me smile. I love the carefree days of childhood in the summer. Cute pictures of Jackson and Cullen shirtless and shoeless... they already look like such "big brothers"! I can't wait to make them some more popsicles. Hope their new found love for the water translates into smiles in the bath tub:-)
